NOLA Green Roots facilitates garden training for hundreds of New Orleans residents. By building community gardens, we teach youth, low-income residents, and senior citizens how to grow fresh fruits and vegetables at a low cost.
Participants learn how to plant, seed and grow fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices naturally – without the use of pesticides. NOLA Green Roots also provides classes and workshops designed to teach residents how to raise chickens, build raised beds, make compost, and water their gardens using rain barrels.
Children ages 4 – 12 can also join in on the fun by attending classes and workshops designed specifically for them. They can learn all about insects, planting and seeding, how to care for farm animals and more!
